7 huge QuiBids Canada wins in May

Item: Fujifilm FinePix Camera
Price:
$2.73
Winner spent:
41 Voucher Bids
Savings:
$210.26
We hear that summertime in Canada is quite beautiful, so congratulations to the awesomely named user imurhucklbery on winning this camera to capture them on pixels! And with that extra $210, you might just be able to buy yourself a couple of memory cards, a case, and all that other equipment big-shot photographers tote around wherever they go.

Item: Monster Beats by Dre Beatbox iPod Dock
Price:
$0.26
Winner spent:
One Real Bid
Savings:
$429.13
Usually anything with the “Beats By Dre” brand stamped on it generates heated competition on QuiBids, but walker2197 snuck in under the radar and snagged this iPod dock at an unreal discount. It’s similarly unlikely for anybody to ever take down a $100+ item for a single bid, so we’ll be scratching our heads over this one for a while. Congratulations, walker!

Item: Apple iPad 2
Price:
$0.99
Winner spent:
17 Real Bids
Savings:
$468.80
Just like Dre’s Beats, iPads are another hot-button QuiBids item, so seeing an iPad 2 go for less than a single dollar is similarly befuddling, if not more so. It begs the question “What do you do with a brand-new iPad 2 and a spare $468.80?” Because that’s what cmonbeton’s got going for himself/herself at the moment.

Item: Aquaswiss Swissport XG Watch
Price:
$0.88
Winner spent:
$0.33
Savings:
$694.11
Usually, when somebody purchases a watch for 88 cents, they’d be wise to keep low expectations for it: as in, they should just be thankful that it stays on their wrist and tells the time accurately. Sam306 gets to raise his expectations a bit, as this Aquaswiss Swissport XG retails for nearly 700 bones.

Item: $200 Department Store You Choose It!
Price:
$0.25
Winner spent:
Four Real Bids, 3 Voucher Bids
Savings: $197.35
You know that Dire Straits song with the lyric about getting “money for nothing.” Well, that could well have been written about this particular $200 department store You Choose It! Customer superhoi traded four Real Bids and 3 Voucher Bids for a cool $200 to his or her choice of great stores to shop for basically whatever he or she wants. Score!

Item: Callaway Hyper Lite Stand Bag
Price:
$0.39
Winner spent:
Four Voucher Bids
Savings:
$169.60
Hope 54andbidding’s ready to hit the links in style, ‘cause this new bag he/she won from Callaway’s the perfect excuse to sneak off pull on a polo shirt, scoot off early from work, and spend the afternoon zipping around in a golf cart.

Item: Cuisinart 4-Cup Food Chopper + 20 Bids
Price:
$0.88
Winner spent:
Four Voucher Bids
Savings:
$74.11
We hope dunbar1087’s kitchen is ready for a revolution, because this 4-Cup Food Chopper is a total gamechanger.

Shop with QuiBids for Father’s Day!

You’ve got one month, America.

Until what? Until Father’s Day, duh! That means that if you’re planning on getting dad a special gift online, then you’ve got to order it now, before supplies run out or it ships too late (because really, who leaves their computers to buy stuff at storefronts anymore?). QuiBids has auctions for plenty of gifts that the man who taught you how to ride a bike, swing a golf club, and grill a steak will love. So we sorted through it all and came up with these five suggestions for you!

Have a look through, and if nothing catches your eye, then try searching QuiBids by its category listings. We’ve got gifts for the garage tinkerers, hearty outdoor men, and even guys who still work out like they’re professional athletes. Let’s check ‘em out.

Nike Dri-Fit UV Stretch Polo 2 Pack
Most guys won’t admit it, but golf is really just a fashion show. You’d be hard-pressed to find a set of links free of any flamboyant dressers. The fairway is just the masculine version of the runway, really, so why don’t you help Dad strut his stuff with a couple of fresh golfing polos from Nike?

While you’re at it, you might consider a gift card and a set of balls to go with it. While looking good is of primary importance on the golf course, equipment is definitely requisite.

Black & Decker Powered Handsaw
Here’s one for the guy who jumped at the opportunity to build your first tree house. Or maybe the dad who just happens to have a tree with overgrowing branches or some minor around-the-house carpentry work to do. This handheld Black & Decker saw is perfect for quick, easy projects, and stores nicely just about anywhere, which makes it as nifty a gift for dad as you can get!

Night Owl Apollo — 45 Video Surveillance

You know what’s cheaper than paying a security company to come stick alarms on your walls? Keeping an eye on the place yourself! This one’s for those with hobbyist fathers who maybe have a little bit too much spare time, as the 500 GB hard drive, 400 Line Camera, and Image Sensor CMOS are only three of about thirty of the features on this thing.

Masterbuilt 30” Electric Smoker

Really, need we say more?

Toshiba 40” 1080p LCD TV

Because what’s more Father’s Day than sitting back and watching golf on a brand-new TV?

What sets QuiBids apart from other auction sites?

There’s no shortage of choices when it comes to shopping online. You’ve got your major retailers like Amazon, eBay, and Zappos that are known for their reliability and convenience. You’ve also got plenty of options to shop with smaller, niche-focused retailers like, say, Napa Online (which exclusively sells car parts) or Plow & Hearth (which exclusively sells home and garden supplies), that are going to be much more knowledgeable about their products.

There are some significant advantages to purchasing a particular item from a particular site. So what do you get when you venture forth into the wide entertainment auction landscape that we at QuiBids have to offer? Here are a couple of things that set us apart from the many other entertainment auction and online retail sites out there.

1. Buy Now
QuiBids was the first entertainment auction website to offer a Buy Now feature on its entire inventory, meaning that — so long as you’re willing to buy the item at its listed retail price — you never have to lose money on our site. The worst case scenario in any auction should be that you have to purchase a brand-new item at a price that’s competitive for the Internet. Only a handful of other entertainment auction sites offer such a feature, which we installed as a guarantee for our customers!

2. We’re in good standing with the BBB!

There aren’t a whole bunch of entertainment retail auction sites that go to the trouble of achieving a Better Business Bureau accreditation, but we’re nearly two years into ours here at QuiBids. The Oklahoma City BBB currently ranks us at an A- rating and cited the volume of formal complaints filed as being very good for the number of customers we serve!

We’ve also completed an independent audit by Grant Thornton, a well-respected accounting and professional services firm, which you can read here. But if you don’t have time to do all the reading, here are the highlights:

  • “QuiBids maintains effective controls to provide reasonable assurance that bids are placed by bona fide users and does not manipulate the bidding process to inflate the bid price or affect who wins the auction (no use of bots, shill bidding or bidding by employees).
  • “QuiBids maintains effective controls to provide reasonable assurance that winning auctions and ‘Buy Now’ orders are fulfilled (i.e. shipped).

3. So long as you don’t spend your Real Bids, we’ll refund them if you ask!
Every day, more and more people sign up for QuiBids, and — by our casual estimate — about 10% of new users jump right in without first spending time in our information portal, QuiBids 101, or even learning how our auction model works.

As a result, we get loads of complaints from this minority, who think that we’ve scammed them for a quick 60 bucks. The good news is that — so long as they didn’t actually spend these Real Bids in an auction — we can refund them back! All it takes is a phone call, email, or chat with our Customer Support staff. Speaking of which…

4. We’ve got a large Customer Support staff.
Currently our Customer Support team boasts more than 35 employees, which makes it the largest department in our entire company. That’s because we want to be able to help every single one of our customers quickly and efficiently, so that you can understand our site and use it to save time and money! Whether you’re looking for a refund, have a question about your user account, or would just prefer to speak with somebody over the phone instead of searching out the information for yourself, Customer Support’s got your back!

5. Most all of our auctions include a return policy.
Go ahead and click on any live auction and scroll down to where it says Product Details in all capital letters. The item’s specific return policy is always listed down there, and it’s usually good for 30 days, so long as you have the original packaging we sent with it. More about that policy here.

6. Achievements and Games
We believe a lot in gameification — that is, incorporating a games and rewards system into our retail model — mostly for the same reason we like playing games and earning rewards ourselves : because it’s fun! QuiBids Games and Achievements provide our users with plenty of entertainment and excitement that they can’t get with traditional online retailers, and plenty of other entertainment auction sites, too!

7. QuiBids Deals!
Just two weeks ago we announced the debut of a great way of shopping with QuiBids that saves time and money. It’s QuiBids Deals, and it allows you to skip the auction and head straight for the savings! What other entertainment auctions offer something like this?

QuiBids’ Mother’s Day mini-contest

How’s your Mother’s Day shopping going? If you’re in need of some ideas, the QuiBids company blog’s got your back with four quick suggestions from our Mother’s Day Facebook shopping gallery (and one more each from our Canadian and Australian markets).

We want to make sure that moms all over the world get to enjoy their special day, so we’re going to help celebrate too! We’re announcing our Mother’s Day mini-contest, which you can enter simply by sending us an email. The winners get free bids, so listen up! Here’s how it works:

1. Compose an email with the subject line Mother’s Day mini-contest submission.
2. Attach a picture of you with your mom.
3. Write each of your first names and last initials in the body of the email, as well as how long you’ve been bidding on QuiBids.
4. And send it to me at matt[dot]carney[at]quibids[dot]com.

We’ll choose five winners at random to give 25 Voucher Bids, kind of like a miniature version of our daily Facebook sweepstakes and our Twitter retweet contests. Be sure to enter to win those too, if you haven’t already!

We’ll also post all the entries to the QuiBids Facebook page to share with all our customers! So what are you waiting for? Start digging around in old photo albums — whether they’re digital or physical — and share the Mother’s Day love!

And of course — just to prove that we QuiBids employees are real-live people and not just some collective office of servers running a scam, here’s me with my own mama, last year when I graduated from college.

Also, total duh, but we have to mention it explicitly to satisfy our legal team — By submitting a photo of yourself and your mother, you are agreeing to allow QuiBids to use it for whatever promotional purposes we see fit to use it for. So there! Now you know explicitly!

QuiBids is expanding globally

QuiBids has been a popular entertainment retail auction website in the United States with up to hundreds of thousands of visitors and bidders every month. With the new, improved Internet auction model and all of the QuiBids Games and amazing deals on name brand items, it’s no surprise that QuiBids has grown internationally.

QuiBids Globe IconQuiBids is currently available in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom with plans to expand into certain European markets later this year. And because of our international presence we are proud to introduce Global Auctions!

The idea behind QuiBids Global Auctions is to “provide users in every country with more auctions and more product variety whenever they visit the site,” said QuiBids CEO Matt Beckham. “Customers in markets outside the United States are going to see hundreds and eventually thousands of more auctions a day and domestic users will see an increase too.”

These auctions will allow customers to compete for items with users in other countries. The introduction of Global Auctions is to increase the site’s entertainment value and offer more auctions and more product variety for members, as well as accommodate our growing customer base.

Members who’ve joined QuiBids, especially those featured as QuiBidder of the Week, love our auction model and live auction items. They’ve shared their wins and success stories with us and continue to bid on items for pennies on the dollar. Keep a look out for our planet Earth icon which will indicate if an auction is Global or not. Global Auctions are currently only available in the U.S., Canadian, and Australian markets, but will quickly spread.

Another bonus is QuiBids’ unique Buy Now feature will — as always — be available in Global Auctions. Buy Now enables customers to purchase an item at the listed retail price, less any money they lost unsuccessfully bidding on it. “It’s our way of making sure customers never have to walk away empty-handed,” said Jill Farrand, QuiBids’ Director of Public Relations.

QuiBids is already a fun and exciting auction website where members can win auction items at amazingly low prices and with the new Global Auctions you can start bidding around the world!
